A range of schemes have been introduced by the government to support and protect jobs and businesses from collapse. <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--h4-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/hotpatch.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-href=\"http:\/\/hotpatch.com\">HotPatch <\/a>has taken a look the schemes available to businesses unable to operate fully due to this lockdown.<\/h4>\n<h4 id=\"339a\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--h4\">The Bounce Back&nbsp;Loan<\/h4>\n<p id=\"82b5\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">The scheme helps small and medium-sized businesses to borrow between \u00a32,000 and \u00a350,000, and up to 25% of their turnover. The government also guarantees 100% of the loan with no fees or interest to pay for the first 12 months. After 12 months the interest rate will be 2.5% a year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3faf\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Businesses that have already accessed the Bounce Back Loan, but have not borrowed their maximum amount, can now apply to top-up their existing loan, but can only do so once.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2604\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">At present, the deadline for applying for a new BBL is the end of March 2021.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"8c27\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">Self-Employment Income Support Scheme&nbsp;(SEISS)<\/h4>\n<p id=\"8750\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">This scheme provides equivalent support to the self-employed as is provided to employees through the government contribution in the CJRS Furlough Scheme. Currently, the SEISS has been increased to meet 80% of trading profits covering November 2020 to January 2021 and from February 2021 to April 2021 for all parts of the UK.<\/p>\n<p id=\"b48c\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">The grant is calculated based on 80% of 3 months\u2019 average trading profits, paid out in a single instalment and capped at \u00a37,500. The details of the grant for the February to April period is yet to be announced.<\/p>\n<p id=\"eeaa\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">All up to date information, including eligibility criteria and the window to claim, as well as being able to make your application, can be found on the gov.uk website.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"634b\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme&nbsp;(CBILS)<\/h4>\n<p id=\"0b9b\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">This scheme was created to help small and medium-sized businesses to access loans and other kinds of finance, up to \u00a35 million.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6350\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">The government guarantees 80% of the finance to the lender and pays interest and any fees for the first 12 months.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"9892\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">National Lockdown Business Support&nbsp;Grant<\/h4>\n<p id=\"275d\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">You may be eligible for a monthly grant up to \u00a33,000 if your business was forced to close.<\/p>\n<p id=\"72c9\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">There are also additional grants for nightclubs, dance halls, and other entertainment venues up to \u00a31,500 for each 14-day period the business is closed.<\/p>\n<p id=\"fa59\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">If we move back into a tier system soon, there is also a local lockdown business support grant.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"6463\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">Business Rates&nbsp;Relief<\/h4>\n<p id=\"5193\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">If your business is in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors in England, you won\u2019t have to pay business rates for the 2020\u20132021 tax year. This applies to:<\/p>\n<p id=\"c732\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Shops<\/p>\n<p id=\"dc3d\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Restaurants, caf\u00e9s, bars, pubs<\/p>\n<p id=\"bd61\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Cinemas, live music venues<\/p>\n<p id=\"9ff2\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Assembly or leisure properties, like sports clubs, gyms, spas<\/p>\n<p id=\"1e5e\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Hospitality properties, like hotels, guest houses, self-catering accommodation<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"67c0\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme&nbsp;(CJRS)<\/h4>\n<p id=\"19db\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">This well known, and well-utilised scheme provides 80% of employees\u2019 monthly salary covered for hours not worked, up to a maximum of \u00a32,500.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ee51\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">Employers will have the flexibility to use the scheme for employees for any amount of time or shift pattern, furloughing employees on either a full-time or part-time basis. And employers only have to cover National Insurance and employer pension contributions.<\/p>\n<p id=\"293b\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--p\">The CJRS was originally due to close on 31st October 2020 but has now been extended until 30th April 2021.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"d506\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">Refund of Statutory Sick&nbsp;Pay<\/h4>\n<p id=\"47c5\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">SMEs with fewer than 250 employees as of 28 February 2020 will get a full refund from the government on 14 days of statutory sick pay per employee off sick with Covid-19. Any sickness you claim for needs to have started on or after 13 March 2020.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"97a2\" class=\"graf graf--h4 graf-after--p\">The Next Steps for Your&nbsp;Business<\/h4>\n<p id=\"2c0d\" class=\"graf graf--p graf-after--h4\">It is worth noting that the information provided is for businesses in England.
